I also agree that Millsap is going to come in produce right away. That 22 point, 19 rebound game against Denver was really a sign that he was ready to start. His performance when Boozer was out over the past few years also serves as pretty good evidence that Utah shouldn’t be panicking.

However, when teams have two players at the same position and when the back-up is almost as good or just as good as the starts, people tend to forget that, when one of them leaves, you’re only getting 18 and 10 a night from one player. That weakens the rotations and such.

Part of the reason I think Utah made a mistake with Hayward in the draft is because I think getting Ed Davis to develop in that back-up role would be better for the system than a shooter that had poor shooting percentages in college.
